Devon Sawa embraces legacy of 1995 film Casper

Actor Devon Sawa has expressed that he has finally embraced his legacy from the 1995 film ‘Casper’, a role he spent decades attempting to distance himself from. The Canadian actor admitted in recent interviews that he previously resisted discussing the cameo that established him as a ‘90s teen heartthrob, once stating, “I don’t wanna talk about Casper. How dare you? I’m a thespian.”

Sawa sought to establish himself through grittier roles in films such as ‘Idle Hands’ and ‘Final Destination’, viewing the commercial success of the fantasy classic as a potential burden to his credibility as a serious performer. However, with the film’s 30th-anniversary theatrical re-release, Sawa has shifted his perspective. He noted that the role provided the foundation for his career and acknowledged that he must embrace the nostalgia associated with the character.
