Devon Witherspoon focuses on season ahead amid Seahawks contract talks

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon is focusing on preparing for the upcoming NFL season despite ongoing contract extension negotiations with the team. Witherspoon, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, stated that he remains committed to training camp and practice to ensure he is ready for the long season ahead, regardless of the status of his contract.

The Seahawks previously exercised Witherspoon’s fifth-year option, which is set to pay him approximately $21.2 million in 2027. As the two sides work toward a deal before the 2026 season, Witherspoon aims to secure a contract that reflects his value and potentially resets the market for his position.

Over his first three seasons in Seattle, Witherspoon has recorded 249 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two interceptions across 43 games. He remains a central figure in the Seahawks' defense as he enters his fourth season.
