Devon Witherspoon signs $132 million extension with Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have signed cornerback Devon Witherspoon to a historic four-year contract extension worth $132 million. The deal includes $101 million in guarantees and averages approximately $33 million per year, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

Witherspoon, a 2023 first-round pick from the University of Illinois, has earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections. The extension is intended to secure him with the organization through 2031, with the new terms officially beginning in the 2028 season. The move aims to establish the team's defensive core and avoid higher market costs as his value continues to rise.

Since joining the franchise, Witherspoon has been a key component of the defense under head coach Mike Macdonald. His performance was notably impactful during the team's recent Super Bowl victory, where his play helped secure the championship.
