Devyani International posts near four‑fold profit rise on strong KFC, Pizza Hut sales

Devyani International, the Indian franchisee of KFC and Pizza Hut, announced a net profit of ₹146.5 million for the quarter ended 30 June, roughly four times the amount recorded a year earlier. Revenue grew 16.5% year‑on‑year to ₹15.81 billion, while same‑store sales at KFC outlets rose 3.3% for a second consecutive quarter. The company’s gross margin improved to 69.1% as operational efficiencies offset higher expenses.

Chairman Ravi Kant Jaipuria said demand remains stable but warned that El Niño‑related weather and broader economic conditions could affect future consumer spending. The firm also confirmed that its all‑share merger with Sapphire Foods, announced earlier in the year, is progressing on schedule, aiming to create one of India’s largest quick‑service restaurant operators. Following the results, Devyani International’s shares jumped up to 9% intraday before settling around a 4.9% gain.
