Dewan Rakyat to debate Myanmar nationals and school safety
The Malaysian Parliament's Dewan Rakyat is set to address several pressing national issues during its current session. Key topics include the long-standing presence of Myanmar nationals, including refugees and asylum seekers, which has raised public concern. Members of Parliament are seeking government strategies to manage this demographic influx.
Additionally, lawmakers will question the Prime Minister regarding student safety in schools, specifically why incidents continue to occur despite existing security guidelines. Other significant matters on the agenda include the implementation of 17 recommendations to enhance security and risk management at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and other national entry points.
Environmental concerns are also expected to be raised, particularly regarding cross-border haze and its impact on Sarawak. Lawmakers are seeking updates on diplomatic and legal actions taken to mitigate this issue. The session will also include the first reading of the Supply Bill 2027 and the second reading of the Sports Development (Amendment) Bill 2026.
