DeWanna Bonner reaches buyout with Phoenix Mercury

The Phoenix Mercury have reached a contract buyout agreement with six-time WNBA All-Star DeWanna Bonner. The move follows the team's elimination from playoff contention and allows the 39-year-old veteran to join a playoff-bound team in pursuit of a championship during what may be her final season.

Reports indicate that the Atlanta Dream have signed Bonner to finish the remainder of the regular season and their playoff run. Bonner, a 17-year veteran, averaged 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds this season before the buyout.

In response to Bonner's departure, the Mercury signed rookie guard Saylor Poffenbarger to a seven-day contract. Poffenbarger, a former Maryland player who previously spent time with the Chicago Sky, will join the roster as the team shifts its focus toward future development.
