DeWanna Bonner signs with Atlanta Dream for WNBA playoffs

Veteran WNBA player DeWanna Bonner has signed a rest-of-the-season contract with the Atlanta Dream. The move follows a buyout agreement with her former team, the Phoenix Mercury, which allowed her to join a championship contender during her 17th professional season.

Bonner, a two-time WNBA champion and six-time All-Star, is expected to join a Dream roster that includes Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard, and Allisha Gray. The signing provides Atlanta with significant veteran leadership and playoff experience as they prepare for the postseason. The contract is reportedly a prorated maximum deal worth approximately $116,000.

Phoenix Mercury General Manager Nick U’Ren stated that the buyout was made possible due to the franchise's relationship with Bonner, providing her the opportunity to “chase a title in what could be her final postseason.”
