Dewas police dismantle interstate mobile theft gang

Police in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, have uncovered an organized interstate gang responsible for mobile phone thefts across 22 districts in five states. The investigation, launched following two thefts at sweet shops in September, led to the arrest of three individuals: Manish Pardi, Suraj Singh Pardi, and Shubham Rathore.

Authorities seized approximately 400 mobile phones valued at 1.5 crore rupees, along with 6 lakh rupees in cash. The stolen devices were reportedly sourced from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Under 'Operation Trinetram', investigators utilized CCTV footage and technical evidence to track the suspects. Police noted that the gang targeted crowded markets and railway stations to steal phones, which were then funneled through Indore for resale. Investigators are currently looking into suspicions that the stolen devices may have been smuggled abroad.
