Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 explores new direction in New York City

The television franchise Dexter continues with the release of Dexter: Resurrection Season 1. Following the events of Dexter: New Blood, where the character Dexter Morgan appeared to die, the series brings Michael C. Hall back to the role.

Set in New York City, the season follows Dexter as he attempts to evade arrest and start a new life working as a rideshare driver. His instincts resurface when he encounters a serial killer known as the ‘Dark Passenger,’ leading him to discover a secret society of killers managed by venture capitalist Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage.

Critical reception of the first season is mixed. Some viewers have noted that the show relies on familiar tropes and narrative inconsistencies to allow the protagonist to evade enemies. However, others have praised the season for its campy tone and its willingness to chart a new, fun course for the franchise through heavy fan service.
