Dexys Midnight Runners release new single ‘Once A Man, Twice A Child’

Dexys Midnight Runners have released a new single titled ‘Once A Man, Twice A Child’ as part of their upcoming album ‘LOVE’, scheduled for release via Heavenly Recordings. The track, produced by David Holmes, is a deeply personal piece written by frontman Kevin Rowland regarding his evolving relationship with his father.

Rowland describes a shift in their dynamic following his father’s stroke, which allowed for a period of reconciliation and caretaking that had not been possible earlier in life. The song’s title reflects the role reversal experienced during the aging process.

The album ‘LOVE’ marks the first release under the full Dexys Midnight Runners name since 1985’s ‘Don’t Stand Me Down’. The project explores various themes from Rowland’s life, including his second-generation Irish upbringing, family connections, romance, and loss.
