DEYAMB replaces 280km of water network in Volos

The Volos Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYAMB) has announced significant improvements to the local water infrastructure, stating that 280 kilometers of the water network have been replaced. Of this total, 60 kilometers were replaced by the company’s own staff.

These upgrades have resulted in a reduction of invisible water losses by 2.5 million cubic meters annually, despite a 50% increase in network damage following recent extreme weather events. To manage and repair the network, DEYAMB utilizes a SCADA remote control and monitoring system alongside 14 hydraulic repair crews.

Future plans include replacing 35 kilometers of network in Neapoli with a budget of €2.6 million, and an additional 15 kilometers in high-fault areas. The company is also focusing on utilizing spring water for Volos, Nea Ionia, and Pelion settlements, a project for which €25 million in funding has been secured. This strategy aims to reduce reliance on boreholes and lower electricity consumption.
