Governor Celina Leão opens DF-205 paving and replaces water penalties in Fercal

On 26 June, Governor Celina Leão inaugurated a 2.7 km paved section of the DF‑205 West highway in the Fercal region, investing more than R$ 5.6 million in earthworks, drainage, signing, and a bicycle lane. The work is expected to serve over 10,000 residents daily and improve access to schools, health units and agricultural transport. In the same ceremony the governor signed the service order for the 1.7 km DF‑326 paving project (budget ≈ R$ 2 million) and approved the renovation of the Alto Bela Vista community centre.

Separately, the Distrito Federal government and the water utility Caesb announced that fines for irregular water connections affecting more than 2,000 families in Fercal will be replaced by warnings. The new policy allows retroactive consumption limits and payment in up to 36 installments, with special discounts for low‑income users under the Tarifa Social scheme. Governor Leão said the measure “gives dignity to people who can now say, ‘I no longer owe this debt.’” Caesb President Luís Antônio Reis noted that over 1,000 connections have already been regularised.

Both initiatives aim to improve basic services and mobility for rural communities in the Federal District.
