Czech town of Strážnice hosts 81st International Folklore Festival

From 25 to 28 June, Strážnice in the Czech Republic will hold the 81st International Folklore Festival alongside the 44th Children’s Folklore Festival. The four‑day programme features music, dance, singing, traditional costumes and a parade, with performances by domestic and foreign ensembles. Participants this year include groups from Northern Cyprus, Peru, Kazakhstan, the United States, Mexico and Slovakia, offering a mix of Latin American rhythms, Central Asian traditions and North‑American folk styles.

The festival also includes a popular competition for the best Slovak verbuňek dancer, a newly introduced Festival Pavilion with inflatable seating, and a special meeting with Native Pride Productions, representing Indigenous communities from the Meskwaki, Cherokee, Chickasaw and Komanc peoples, who will discuss their cultural heritage.
