DGCA reports baggage issues as top airline complaint in India

Baggage-related issues emerged as the primary source of passenger dissatisfaction in India's domestic aviation sector during July, according to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Of the 2,196 passenger complaints received by airlines in July, approximately 31.3 percent, or 687 cases, were related to delayed, lost, or mishandled baggage. This category surpassed flight-related problems (20.6 percent) and refund issues (18.4 percent) as the leading grievance.

While the overall complaint rate remained low at 1.83 per 10,000 passengers, significant variations were observed between carriers. Alliance Air reported the highest complaint rate at 65.5 per 10,000 passengers, followed by SpiceJet at 3.7. In contrast, IndiGo recorded 0.9 complaints per 10,000 passengers, while IndiaOne Air reported zero complaints for the month.
