India wins historic women's recurve archery gold at Asian Games

At the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the Indian women's recurve archery team achieved a historic milestone by winning their first-ever gold medal in the event. The trio of Kumkum Mohod, Ankita Bhakat, and Kirti Sharma defeated the dominant South Korean team with a 5-3 score in the final.

17-year-old Kumkum Mohod played a pivotal role, securing the victory with a decisive 10 in the final set. This victory ended South Korea's long-standing dominance in the recurve women's team category. In the individual recurve event, Mohod also secured a silver medal after a close shoot-off against South Korea's Oh Yejin, who won the gold.

India's strong performance in archery continued as the men's recurve team earned a silver medal after losing 5-1 to South Korea. Additionally, the mixed recurve team, consisting of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Kumkum Mohod, secured a silver medal. These results contributed to a significant medal haul for India during the games.
