DGT confirms no changes to driving theory exams in October

The Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) has clarified that there will be no changes to the driving theory exam starting in October, despite viral social media claims suggesting a shift from multiple-choice questions to video-based risk perception tests. While the DGT is studying the inclusion of risk perception videos, such a change would require a modification of the Drivers' Regulations, a process that has not yet begun.

The confusion stems from a mix of upcoming regulatory updates. On October 1, an update to the General Circulation Regulations (RGC) will take effect, introducing new norms for cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and light electric vehicles. However, the format of the theoretical exam remains unchanged for now.

Separately, psychological studies note that many driving candidates use various superstitions and rituals to manage anxiety during practical exams. These include wearing specific clothing colors, carrying amulets, or following particular dietary habits to gain a sense of control during the test.
