DGT denies rumors of changes to Spanish driving theory exam

The Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) has issued a clarification regarding viral social media posts claiming that the theoretical driving exam will undergo significant changes on October 1. These rumors suggested the introduction of open-ended questions and video-based risk perception tests.

The DGT confirmed that no changes to the exam structure are scheduled for October. The current format, consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions with a maximum of three errors allowed and a 30-minute time limit, remains in effect. While the agency is studying the potential inclusion of risk perception videos, no official modifications to the Drivers' Regulations have been initiated.

The confusion appears to stem from an upcoming update to the Traffic Regulations on October 1, which aims to strengthen protections for vulnerable road users and align with UN 2030 Agenda sustainability goals. This reform focuses on urban mobility and the definition of vulnerable road users rather than the exam format.
