Dhaka authorities seize 5,200 Yaba pills from microbus labeled ‘Press’

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested Hosain Sharif, also known as Sohel, in Dhaka after seizing 5,200 Yaba pills from a white microbus. The vehicle was marked with ‘Press’ and featured media equipment, including a Panasonic video camera and booms labeled ‘Asian TV’ and ‘Sorojomin’.

The operation took place near the Khan and Chowdhury filling station in the Matuail area of Kadamtali. Authorities intercepted the vehicle, which had traveled from Cox's Bazar, after noticing suspicious movement. Upon inspection, officials found 4,200 pills in a shopping bag inside the vehicle and an additional 1,000 pills wrapped in tape inside the suspect's pocket.

While the suspect claimed to be a former journalist, he could not provide evidence of current employment with any media outlet. Investigators stated that he had been using journalism-related tools, such as cameras, booms, and visiting cards, to facilitate illegal drug trafficking activities.
