Dhaka police arrest man following death of actress Ridhika Ridhi

Police in Dhaka have arrested Hasibur Rahman in connection with the death of 26-year-old model and actress Ridhika Ridhi, whose real name was Lina Akhter. Her body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in a rented apartment in the Bashundhara residential area on August 15, 2026.

Reports indicate that Ridhi had been in a relationship with Rahman and was engaged in a video call with him during the early hours of the incident, during which a heated argument reportedly occurred. Rahman was the first to find her unconscious and sought assistance to transport her to Kurmitola General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Ridhi’s family has accused Rahman of mental abuse and is preparing to lodge a complaint regarding the abetment of suicide. While Rahman is currently in custody, investigators have noted that the family's allegations are currently one-sided statements and that a final determination regarding the cause of death is pending the results of a post-mortem report and a review of phone records.
