Dhaka police arrest two following woman's death by self-immolation

Police in Dhaka have arrested two individuals following the death of 28-year-old Nisha Rani, who died after attempting suicide by self-immolation. The victim reportedly set herself on fire in the Miranjilla Harijan Palli area of the Bangshal police station jurisdiction.

According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the incident stemmed from emotional distress caused by the relationship between the victim's friend, Minakshi Rani Das, and an individual identified as Biki Babu, also known as Sri Biki Hela. The victim allegedly faced verbal abuse and mental harassment from the two individuals regarding her opposition to their relationship.

Nisha Rani was rescued and admitted to the burn unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she passed away on October 4. Authorities have confirmed the arrests of both Minakshi and Biki in connection with the case.
