Dhal Singh Bisen appointed as Uttarakhand Governor

Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Madhya Pradesh, has been appointed as the new Governor of Uttarakhand by President Droupadi Murmu. Bisen succeeds Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.), who served in the role from September 15, 2021, to October 12, 2026.

Bisen brings extensive political experience to the position, having served as a four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) between 1990 and 2003, a cabinet minister in the Madhya Pradesh government, and the Member of Parliament for the Balaghat Lok Sabha seat in 2019.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his congratulations to the new Governor, noting Bisen’s long political experience and dedication to public service. The appointment is part of a broader reshuffle of governors across six Indian states announced by the President's House.
