Dhar observes shutdown over Bhojshala dispute

A district-wide shutdown was observed in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday following a call by Hindu organisations to protest the alleged improper implementation of court orders regarding the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque complex.

Protesters, including members of the Sakal Hindu Samaj, expressed dissatisfaction with the administration's selection of a prayer site for Friday Namaz. While the Supreme Court had identified Khasra No. 596 as the designated area for prayers, demonstrators claim the administration is using Khasra No. 612 instead, which they argue blocks access to the temple area.

Additional demands from Hindu groups include a clearer demarcation of the protected monument's boundaries by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). A previous ASI scientific survey concluded that the existing structure was constructed using parts from earlier temples, noting that remains of the original Saraswati temple are visible within the complex.

In response to the bandh, police intensified security presence across Dhar, Pithampur, and Badnawar to maintain law and order. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors.
