Dharavi redevelopment begins with 10,432 homes planned at Matunga site

Adani Enterprises Limited director Pranav Adani has commenced rehabilitation construction for the Dharavi redevelopment project at a 22-acre site in Matunga. The project, managed by Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited, aims to provide eligible residents with 350 sq ft homes under an in-situ rehabilitation scheme.

The development will consist of 10 towers containing 10,432 homes and 1,379 commercial and industrial units. The towers, ranging from 37 to 39 storeys, are scheduled to be handed over to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority in three phases, with completion expected by August 2030.

The project involves international and local expertise, including design firm Sasaki from the US, engineering consultancy Buro Happold from the UK, and urban planning experts from Singapore, alongside Mumbai-based StudioPOD and architect Hafeez Contractor.
