Dharma Productions Secures ₹250 Crore Distribution Deal for Ramayana Film

Dharma Productions has acquired the India‑wide theatrical distribution rights for the upcoming epic "Ramayana: Part 1" for an estimated Rs 250 crore, making it one of the largest distribution agreements in recent Bollywood history. The deal was finalized after negotiations that initially targeted a valuation of around Rs 500 crore.

The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama alongside a star‑studded cast, is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release. With a reported production budget of roughly Rs 4,000 crore and music composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, the two‑part adaptation is positioned as a landmark project in Indian cinema. The acquisition strengthens Dharma Productions’ distribution portfolio and underscores growing investor confidence in high‑budget Indian film ventures.
