Dharwad Tehsildar arrested for accepting 50 lakh rupee bribe

A Tehsildar, Sachidanand Kuchnoor, was caught red-handed by Lokayukta officials while accepting a bribe of 50 lakh rupees in Dharwad, Karnataka. The operation took place late Wednesday night near the KCD ground.

The official allegedly demanded a total of 1 crore rupees and one acre of land in exchange for correcting land records and facilitating the sub-division (podi) of a 33-acre property in Yerikoppa village. Following a complaint from a developer, Lokayukta teams set a trap. The official was apprehended as he accepted the cash, which was contained in a red bag.

Authorities have seized the bribe money and registered a corruption case against the official. Investigations are ongoing to examine the official's documents and the potential involvement of other individuals in the matter.
