Surat accountant arrested for 24 crore rupee textile market arson

An accountant has been arrested by the Surat Crime Branch for allegedly setting fire to the Shyam Sangini Textile Market in Gujarat. The suspect, identified as Vinod Pandit Savle, reportedly acted out of revenge after a dispute over 10,000 rupees in unpaid salary.

According to police investigations and CCTV footage, the incident occurred on the night of September 8-9. Savle, who had previously worked at shop number 639 but left in June due to difficulties managing accounts, allegedly used approximately 150 rupees worth of petrol to ignite parcels of clothing outside a shop.

The fire spread rapidly through the textile market, destroying goods in at least 14 shops. The total estimated loss is approximately 24 crore rupees. Authorities confirmed the arrest after reviewing surveillance footage which showed the suspect wearing a face covering and carrying a bag while scouting the area before committing the act.
