Dhirendra Shastri faces legal demand following remarks on Lord Krishna
Spiritual orator Dhirendra Krishna Shastri is facing backlash and demands for legal action following comments made regarding the forms of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. During a religious discourse in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, Shastri compared the two deities, specifically referencing the ‘tribhanga’ or three-fold bending posture of Lord Krishna in contrast to the upright stance of Lord Ram.
A video of the remarks went viral, leading to protests from various religious groups and political figures. In Lucknow, members of the Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade submitted a formal complaint to the Hazratganj police station, demanding that a First Information Report (FIR) be registered against Shastri for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
In response to the growing controversy, Shastri issued an apology, stating his intention was not to insult any deity but to highlight their different divine manifestations. Spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya has come to Shastri’s defense, suggesting the remarks were made in a lighthearted manner to illustrate the different ways devotees perceive their deities in Ayodhya and Vrindavan.
