DHL Express and FedEx announce 2027 shipping rate increases

Major logistics providers DHL Express and FedEx have announced price adjustments scheduled for early 2027, signaling a trend of annual rate increases in the shipping industry.

DHL Express will implement its 2027 price adjustments in Australia starting January 1, 2027. The company stated that these changes apply to all discounted rates and agreements where contracts allow. DHL cited inflationary pressures, currency fluctuations, energy costs, and labor market pressures as primary drivers for the adjustment. The company noted that these changes help maintain service reliability while investing in global networks and sustainable logistics.

FedEx has confirmed an average general rate increase of 5.9% for U.S. package services, effective January 4, 2027. This marks the fourth consecutive year the company has implemented a similar average increase. Data indicates that e-commerce parcels may face higher impacts; specifically, FedEx Ground packages weighing between 1 and 5 lbs are projected to see an average increase of 6.49%. Additionally, FedEx is adjusting various surcharges, including residential delivery and additional handling fees.
