DHS agents linked to sexual offenses and violence in new report
A report by the Ohio Immigrant Alliance has identified 152 employees and contractors of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with histories of sexual offenses and violence. The findings involve personnel from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) who continue to participate in immigration enforcement operations.
According to the analysis, 131 of the individuals (86.2%) have been accused or convicted of sexual crimes. Furthermore, 85 individuals (55.9%) were linked to crimes against minors, with 78 cases (51.3%) specifically involving sexual offenses against minors. The report indicates that roughly 90% of the documented incidents involve gender-based or sexual violence, including domestic abuse and child sexual abuse.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) accounts for the majority of the cases, representing 121 of the 152 identified individuals, or 79.6%. The report highlights specific instances of misconduct, including domestic violence, sexual predation, and abuse of authority by agents in various regions.
