DHS announces deportation of violent criminal illegal aliens

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported several individuals with violent criminal histories, including gang members, robbers, and drunk drivers. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that these actions are part of a mandate to deport illegal aliens to increase national safety.

As of mid-2026, DHS and ICE efforts under the Trump administration have led to an estimated decline of approximately 3 million in the foreign-born population through a combination of physical deportations and voluntary exits.

Specific individuals identified in the recent roundup include Arturo Moises Urzua Yanez of Mexico, a Surenos gang member convicted of attempted murder and vehicle theft; Juan Jose Zavala Romero of Honduras, a Tango Blast gang member who had been deported seven times previously; and Yair de Jesus Trejo-Mendoza of Mexico, a Surenos gang member with multiple prior deportations and convictions including aggravated assault.
