DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that authorities are examining claims that Omar married her brother as part of an immigration scheme to facilitate his entry into the United States.

Mullin noted that if investigators establish proof of fraud or material misrepresentation in her application, it could lead to legal consequences, including potential deportation or denaturalization. He emphasized that any future action would be based on evidence rather than political considerations.

Tom Homan characterized the matter as an “ongoing criminal investigation,” though he declined to provide specific details or confirm if a formal denaturalization case has been filed. Representative Omar has consistently denied the allegations.
