DHS reports surge in assaults against ICE officers

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin reported a significant increase in assaults against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. According to Department of Homeland Security data, there were 647 recorded attacks on ICE agents between January 2025 and September 2026, compared to 37 attacks during the same period under the Biden administration.

Mullin attributed the surge in violence to sanctuary politicians and their supporters, accusing them of spreading “vicious lies” and participating in anti-ICE riots. The department noted that protesters have used weapons, thrown objects, and impeded law enforcement operations.

Reports of violence have been documented across the country, including incidents in Minneapolis, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Houston involving protesters, rioters, and individuals resisting arrest.
