DHS Secretary Mullin clashes with Rep. Al Green over racism claim

During a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas engaged in a heated exchange after Green accused Mullin of racism. Green shouted “shut up” several times and later clarified he never called Mullin a racist. Mullin responded, “Are you calling me a racist?” and asserted his Cherokee heritage, saying “I’m Cherokee, too” and “No one will call me a racist.” Committee Chairman Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R‑NY) intervened, suspending Green’s speaking time and emphasizing that personal attacks would not be tolerated.
