DHS seeks removal of leaked data on immigration agents

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is attempting to take down websites hosting hacked data belonging to thousands of federal immigration agents and employees. The information, which includes names, telephone numbers, email addresses, and job assignments, reportedly exposes employees from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to risks of harassment, stalking, and physical harm. This includes agents involved in undercover operations.

The data was stolen by a hacker group known as the Department of Peace and made public by the nonprofit Distributed Denial of Secrets (DDoSecrets) and journalist maia arson crimew. After previous hosting providers took the content offline, the data was moved to FlokiNET, an Icelandic web company.

FlokiNET has refused to comply with takedown demands issued by ZeroFox, a cybersecurity firm working on behalf of DHS. FlokiNET stated that the information describes individuals in the exercise of public authority rather than their private lives.
