DHS to review plan for expanded worksite immigration enforcement
White House border czar Tom Homan announced that a new plan to expand worksite immigration enforcement has cleared Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and is expected to reach Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin shortly.
The proposed strategy aims to go beyond the arrest of unauthorized workers by targeting the use of fraudulent identification and stolen Social Security numbers. Additionally, the plan seeks to hold employers accountable if they knowingly hire undocumented individuals.
Homan noted that the initiative was developed through a specialized lab following his specific request for a new approach. The proposal comes amid internal discussions within the administration regarding the potential economic impact of enforcement on sectors such as agriculture, construction, and hospitality.
