Diabetes complication kills 30-year-old man in China

A 30-year-old man in China, identified as Mr. Wang, has died due to complications from diabetes. Medical professionals reported that he collapsed at his workplace and was admitted to the emergency room in a deep coma. While brain CT scans were normal, his blood glucose levels were recorded at 35 mmol/L, significantly exceeding safe limits.

Doctors concluded the cause of death was hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state, an acute complication of diabetes with a mortality rate between 20% and 30%. Medical staff noted that the patient had experienced severe obesity for a decade, weighing over 100kg, which led to insulin resistance.

Investigations into his lifestyle revealed a long-term dietary pattern involving daily breakfasts consisting of soft drinks, fried foods, and burgers. Dr. Wang Xiaoli from the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University warned that such high consumption of unhealthy fats and chemical sugars is a direct path to diabetes and fatal complications.
