Diabetes prevention and awareness initiatives launched in Spain and Paraguay

Health organizations in Spain and Paraguay are launching initiatives to improve diabetes awareness and prevention.

In Tenerife, Spain, the Asociación para la Diabetes de Tenerife (ADT), in collaboration with the Cabildo de Tenerife, is conducting the II Insular Campaign for Diabetes Prevention. The campaign includes an information and assistance point in Garachico, offering the FINDRISC risk test, which is a free, rapid, and non-invasive assessment to evaluate the probability of developing type 2 diabetes. The initiative aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits and provide personalized health advice regarding nutrition and physical activity.

In Paraguay, the Sociedad Paraguaya de Diabetología is organizing a session specifically for diabetes patients as part of the 4th Paraguayan Congress of Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Diseases. Under the theme ‘Metabolic health: learn, care and transform,’ the event focuses on providing accessible information to patients and their families. Coordinated by endocrinologist Dr. Rosa Vega, the session aims to educate the community on metabolic health and the importance of healthy eating to prevent and manage the disease.
