Diabetology Limited reports first human data on oral GLP‑1 drug Oraglutide

Diabetology Limited presented poster 1724‑P at the American Diabetes Association’s 86th Scientific Session in New Orleans, unveiling the first human data on Oraglutide™ – an oral semaglutide capsule released in the intestine using the company’s Axcess™ delivery technology.

In an eight‑subject study, a single 4 mg dose produced a sustained 14 % reduction in glucose by day 6 and increased insulin secretion by 12 % on day 0 and 28 % on day 1 versus placebo. Blood levels remained elevated through day 4, indicating a novel intestinal depot effect. No nausea or adverse events were reported. The oral formulation demonstrated at least six‑fold greater biopotency than the existing oral GLP‑1 drug Rybelsus, suggesting the possibility of lower‑dose, once‑weekly regimens with reduced side‑effects and costs. Diabetology’s Axcess™ platform is protected by patents extending to 2044.
