DIABEYES project launches cross-border diabetes screening

The DIABEYES project has launched to improve the prevention and early detection of diabetes and its complications, specifically targeting residents in rural and hard-to-reach areas. The initiative focuses on diabetes prevention and eye health through community-based early screening and nutrition support.

Led by the Zadar Public Health Institute, the project involves a cross-border partnership including the University of Zadar, the ZADRA NOVA Agency for the Development of Zadar County, the Chamber of Masters of Pharmacy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro.

The project will implement a collaborative healthcare model utilizing mobile teams, field examinations, joint educational programs, and digital tools to assess individual risks. This initiative is part of the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021–2027 program, aiming to bring essential health services closer to citizens facing accessibility challenges due to distance.
