Diagnostic technicians strike at ULS Amadora-Sintra
Diagnostic and therapeutic technicians at the ULS Amadora-Sintra health unit in Portugal have launched a strike with high participation rates, reaching 80% to 100% in several services. This marks the third strike since September 30.
Luís Dupont, president of the National Union of Higher Health Technicians in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Areas (STSS), stated that while essential services such as imaging, clinical analysis, cardiopneumology, and pharmacy are being maintained, the impact remains significant.
The industrial action seeks the application of the Collective Labor Agreement (ACT) for State Business Sector (EPE) hospitals to technicians at ULS Amadora-Sintra who hold individual employment contracts. The union argues that the current situation creates inequalities regarding career progression and salary scales. Although an agreement had been reached with the local Board of Directors, the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS) issued a negative opinion regarding career reconstitution and retroactive salary adjustments, leading to a current impasse.
