Diakonhjemmet nursing home strike ends after mediation agreement

The strike at Diakonhjemmet nursing home has ended following the acceptance of a mediation proposal by Spekter, Unio, and LO. The resolution includes an agreement with LO to implement a defined contribution pension scheme with maximum rates at the Diakonhjemmet Foundation.

While the Foundation and kindergartens reached an agreement, Diakonhjemmet omsorg AS will continue its existing hybrid pension scheme. This decision was made to avoid further escalation of the strike, which leadership noted could have compromised the safety and care of vulnerable residents.

Despite the resolution, management expressed concerns regarding long-term economic predictability. They noted that the inability to implement a pension scheme with lower additional costs may impact the organization's ability to compete for municipal nursing home contracts in the future.
