Dialogue! to stage Shakespeare comedy in Tokyo

The theater group Dialogue! has announced its sixth production, ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor 101 Minutes and a Little More,’ scheduled to run from December 16 to December 20, 2026, at Atelier Fanfare Higashi-Shinjuku in Tokyo.

Directed and adapted by Yoko Sawami, the play is the second installment of the group’s ‘101 Minutes Series.’ It is based on William Shakespeare’s comedy ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ and aims to condense the classic work into a fast-paced, 101-minute performance. The story follows a man named Falstaff whose pursuit of two married women leads to a series of retaliatory schemes and comedic chaos involving jealous husbands and young lovers.

Dialogue! was formed in 2021 by members of the theater troupe AUN to continue stage creativity following the pandemic. The production features a cast of experienced actors and will include after-talk sessions on certain dates.
