Diamon Slovakia seeks judicial protection amid rising debts

Diamon Slovakia, a prominent meat producer based in Poprad, has filed for judicial protection from creditors following significant financial difficulties. The Košice City Court has initiated restructuring proceedings to determine if the company can resolve its debts through a formal reorganization process. To succeed, the company must be able to repay at least half of its outstanding claims to creditors; failure to do so could lead to bankruptcy.

The company’s financial decline is evidenced by unpaid social and health insurance totaling approximately 76,000 EUR, alongside tax debts of 115,000 EUR. While Diamon Slovakia saw record revenues of 9.1 million EUR and a profit exceeding 100,000 EUR in 2023, its economic performance has since deteriorated.

The financial crisis has also impacted the workforce. The company has reduced its staff from over 60 employees to approximately 40. At its peak, the wholesaler supplied up to 1,200 customers, including various retail outlets and restaurants.
