Diamond Hill woman arrested after attempted MTR robbery
A 50-year-old woman was arrested following an attempted robbery and a high-level police operation in Diamond Hill. On the evening of October 4, staff at the Diamond Hill MTR station reported that a woman, suspected of wielding a knife, threatened station personnel and demanded Octopus cards and HK$100 banknotes. During the incident, she reportedly struck the service center glass with a knife and damaged station gates with an 8-inch ceramic blade.
After the failed robbery, the woman fled to Tsz Ching Estate. The Hong Kong Police Force deployed a large presence, including the Counter Terrorism Response Unit and assault squads, some of whom wore tactical vests and carried shields. Police also brought explosive tools to search a unit in Ching Fai House. Firefighters were stationed at the estate's car park entrance with air cushions to prevent injuries from potential falls.
At approximately 1:00 AM on October 5, police forced entry into a fourth-floor apartment. The woman, who reportedly has a history of mental illness, resisted arrest before being subdued and transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She has been detained on suspicion of attempted robbery, and the case is being investigated by the Wong Tai Sin District Crime Unit.
