Diamond League Zurich: Dawid Wegner takes podium amid Polish broadcast delays

The Diamond League athletics meeting in Zurich, held on August 27, featured high-level competition and two world records. Polish javelin thrower Dawid Wegner secured a podium finish, taking third place with a throw of 85.16 meters. Other Polish athletes included Pia Skrzyszowska and Weronika Lizakowska, who both finished sixth in their respective events, and Maria Żodzik, who placed eighth in the high jump.

Despite the historic nature of the event, viewers in Poland faced difficulties watching the broadcast. Polsat, the rights holder in Poland, failed to air the meeting at the scheduled time on Polsat Sport 3. The broadcaster attributed the delay to ‘force majeure’ that could not have been predicted. Instead of the athletics coverage, viewers were presented with a volleyball match between Latvia and Hungary. The Diamond League coverage eventually appeared on the channel after 21:00.
