Diana Buzoianu faces accusations over forestry training regulations

Diana Buzoianu, the interim Minister of Environment, is facing accusations from Romsilva unionists regarding a new ministerial order. Silviu Geană, leader of the union federation, alleges that the regulation mandates professional training courses for foresters through ASFOR, a company linked to the minister. Unionists claim this move forces workers to pay for courses and suggests that members of the Ministry of Environment receive monthly commissions for certification processes.

The new regulation, which was open for public consultation until August 28, 2026, requires administrators and specialized personnel to undergo at least eight hours of professional training annually to maintain their professional status. ASFOR is designated as the entity responsible for organizing these courses and issuing certificates.

Separately, Buzoianu has criticized the Social Democratic Party (PSD) regarding their recent resolution for a future government. Following a PSD meeting in Sinaia, the party proposed a 24-month mandate for the next Executive and outlined ten national priorities. Buzoianu dismissed the PSD's document on social media, describing it as ‘a paper with many promises’ and calling for greater political dignity in fulfilling commitments.
