Diana Gonçalves opens Transfronteriza exhibition in Santiago de Compostela

Artist and filmmaker Diana Gonçalves has inaugurated the ‘Transfronteriza’ exhibition at the Museo do Pobo Galego in Santiago de Compostela. The exhibition, which runs until March 28, 2027, is based on the documentary ‘Mujeres de la raya’, a project resulting from three years of research.

The showcase focuses on the historical role of women living along the Galicia-northern Portugal border during the mid-20th century. It highlights how these women engaged in cross-border trade along the Miño river to ensure the economic survival of their families and maintain community links. Through cinematic images, historical archives, and documentary materials, the project aims to reconstruct a shared memory that transcends administrative boundaries.
