BUAP researchers win Francisco Becerra Architecture Award

Two researchers from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) Faculty of Architecture have been awarded the 2026 “Francisco Becerra” Architecture Award. The honors were presented by the National Architecture Award and the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture of Puebla.

Dr. Adriana Hernández Sánchez received the award in the Academic Research in Architecture category. Her work focuses on urban regeneration, public spaces, and housing in historic centers, emphasizing active citizen participation. Through her “Regenera Espacio” initiative, she has led projects in the San Antonio, El Refugio, Santa Anita, and Analco neighborhoods of Puebla.

Dr. Julia Judith Mundo Hernández was honored in the Teaching Career category. Her research centers on healthy and sustainable habitats, including studies on housing, renewable energy integration, and bioclimatic strategies, such as the environmental and social diagnosis of artisanal brick and clay tile production.
