Diana Nausėdienė honors Lithuanian schools abroad

First Lady Diana Nausėdienė attended an event at the Presidential Palace to celebrate Lithuanian School Day, honoring founders and teachers of Lithuanian schools located abroad. In her address, she emphasized the importance of love and dedication to Lithuania as the driving forces that unite educators from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Nausėdienė expressed gratitude to those establishing new Lithuanian schools and expanding existing classes. She noted that their efforts are contributing to an increase in both the number of schools and students. She also extended thanks to the Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support.

The First Lady highlighted the need for a continuous and dynamic expansion of Lithuanian education abroad, describing it as a journey back to one's ancestral home. She stressed the importance of ensuring that children returning to Lithuania receive the necessary support to integrate into the national education system.

In a separate reflection on the profession, educator Alvija Černiauskaitė compared the patience and observation required in teaching to mushroom hunting, noting that a teacher’s ability to notice a child’s small progress is vital to their growth.
