Diane Foley, mother of American journalist James Foley, has released a new book titled ‘Madre americana: el coraje frente al terrorismo’ (American Mother: Courage Against Terrorism). The book details the captivity and torture experienced by her son, who was executed by ISIS in Syria in 2014.

Foley describes the difficulties faced during the Obama administration, alleging that the family felt abandoned and faced legal threats if they attempted to independently raise ransom funds. Following the tragedy, she established the Foley Foundation to advocate for changes in how the United States handles citizens held captive or illegally detained abroad.
